My parents visited me in 2010. Their Unique Client Identity (UCI) number had 8 digits. Now they are here on a super visa and their UCI has 10 digits. I noticed today while going through their old documents. I have heard that UCI is always one for the same person. How it may have happened?

You are correct that UCI always remains same for the person. Each time an applicant submits application gets a different application number but Unique Client Identity (UCI) remains the same. In your case your parents may have added surname or somehow never reported applied/visited Canada earlier; therefore, their UCI may have changed.

Yes my parents were not using their surname earlier. They added their surname last year when their passports got expired by advertising it in the newspaper. My parents called the agent and it’s true that the agent did not mention the previous visit to Canada anywhere. Would it be troublesome for when we would sponsor them for permanent residence in Canada?

The fact that your parents received a new UCI is not an issue but have they ever been refused a visa or entry to Canada or any other country?

No, they were never refused a visa or entry to Canada or any other country.

I hope there won’t be any problem unless I am unaware of any medical or criminal facts of your would be sponsorship matter. Just remember to provide proper history of your parents since turning 18 years of age; including their previous residence of 2010 in Canada. Wish You Good Luck !
