Child Born Outside Canada Dad is a Canadian Citizen Mom is Not
-
I am a Canadian citizen. My wife is in India. We recently have a baby girl born in India. I am currently in Canada. How can I apply for my daughter’s Canadian citizenship? Also, I need to sponsor my wife. Where I will send application to sponsor my wife?

A child born outside Canada to a Canadian parent and meeting certain requirements is a Canadian citizen. However the child will not possess a birth certificate issued by a Canadian governmental authority and for proof of Canadian citizenship, the child will need to obtain a Canadian citizenship certificate. It is applicable when at least one parent:
- was born in Canada, or
- became a naturalized Canadian citizen before the child was born
To apply for Canadian citizenship certificate, you need to send a paper application to IRCC. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/proof-citizenship/about.html
For sponsoring your wife, you should make an application to sponsor her. See guide to sponsor spouse on the link given below:
You will send this application to address mentioned below:
