Parent Took Minor Child India Lost PR Status Ways to Reinstate
-
I have a question about getting my PR status reinstated. Me and my parents lived in Canada on a permanent basis till I was 10 years of age. Due to some personal family problems, my parents decided to move back to India and brought me back with them. I have now been living in India since the age of 10 and my PR status was revoked because I did not meet the residency obligations. When my parents brought me to India, I was a minor so I had no choice but now I really want to move back to Canada because I would like to pursue further studies and eventually get settled there. Are there any options where I can get my Canadian PR status back?

In cases such as yours, there is not guarantee that your PR card status will be reinstated. You can try to obtain a permanent resident travel document (PRTD). This is a document that allows you to return to Canada even if your PR card is invalid. In your case it is very important you ask for a PRTD on H&C grounds. This would probably be your best bet. H&C submissions can be tricky so I recommend that you get the assistance of a professional immigration consultant or lawyer.
