Passport Renewed Name Split PR Application About to Finalized
-
I have applied for my Canadian Experience Class – Express Entry application. My work permit was about to expire in April 2020 and my Indian passport was of less than seven months validity. In order to renew work permit, I renewed my passport and extended my work permit. Another issue was that I had my full name in ‘Given Name’ section and ‘Surname’ section was left blank. On my new passport, I split my name in ‘Given Name’ and ‘Surname’ sections.
My question now is that my application of permanent residency is about to finalize in two months or so. How can I update my new passport details in my CEC application? Do I need to update it or it can be ok without informing IRCC and I will send both passports at the time of passport request?

You must update your passport details in your CEC application. You can do it by submitting an IRCC web form and upload the new copy of your passport. Make sure you fill in all the details carefully in the web form. If you are applying from within Canada, there will be no passport request instead there will be a landing interview in Canada. If your application is processed at a visa office outside Canada, you should submit the new passport only to the VAC centre. In any case, you must inform IRCC immediately about the change(s) in your passport details, otherwise it could become a big trouble for you in the near future.
