While applying for permanent residency application, Principal applicant is responsible to maintain proof of funds or to prove exemption to fund requirement. If your spouse is accompanying with you, you can count money you have together in a joint account. You may be able to count money in an account under your spouse name only, but you must prove that you have access to the money.
