If a student changes institution, is a new study permit required?

If you change post-secondary schools, the school you plan to change to must also be a DLI. You need to inform IRCC about it. You can use the change of DLI tool by making a CIC online account.
It also depends on the details of study and conditions of your stay as mentioned on your study permit. If your conditions of study will change by changing institution, then you need to amend your study permit.
