Since February 06, 2014, almost every applicant who has applied for a temporary resident visa for Canada have been typically granted a multiple entry visa by the visa posts. If the visa officer doubts the intentions of the applicant or if the applicant’s passport validity is less than 10 years, then the visa officer will typically grant a single entry visa with the duration being lesser than the expiration of the passport.

There is no requirement in regards to how much funds are required to invite someone on a visitor visa. However, we recommend that you show as much funds as possible so that you can satisfy the officer that you have a stable financial background.

No, a file transfer cannot be requested by the applicant as there is no provision under IPRA to transfer from one visa office to another. Before IRPA, this provision was available to the applicant and the files were transferred from one visa post to another upon payment of a nominal fee. Now a file can be transferred by the visa post if the officer thinks it is necessary.

An inviter should have income according to the LICO chart or exceeding it. The visiting parent or grandparent must have insurance for 1 year for $100,000. This insurance should include health care, hospitalization, and repatriation coverage. The applicants might undergo medical examination and biometrics and they have to pass the medical examination. If application is approved, the applicant can get a visa for 10 years or for the length of the validity of the passport.

In order to be eligible to sponsor a same sex partner, same sex relationships must be legal in the country your partner lives in. In Canada, same sex relationships are legal however, in India, same sex partners are not legal; therefore you would not be able to sponsor your partner.
