USA Refugee Travel Document Visiting Canada Requirements
-
I came to the United States in 2010 as a refugee claimant. After some time, my refugee claim was accepted and I was issued a ‘Refugee Travel Document’. My friend is now getting married in Canada and I would like to attend his marriage ceremony. Can I visit Canada without applying for a visa? If not, then how can I travel to Canada on a temporary basis?

The answer depends on whether you will be coming to the Canadian border by air or by land.
Coming to Canada by Air:
You will need to apply for an eTA before coming to Canada. You DO NOT need a visitor visa. The cost of an eTA is CAD $7 and it is electronically linked to your passport.
Coming to Canada by car, train, bus, or boat:
You DO NOT need a visitor visa or an eTA if arriving by land. You must bring valid proof of your permanent status in the US.
