Express Entry CEC – Received ITA – Experience Not Completed
-
My brother created his express entry profile by himself. He received an invitation to apply on May 14, 2020. He started working under NOC level B on July 02, 2019 so he has not completed 1 full year of Canadian work experience yet. We are worried that his CEC application might be rejected because he does not have 1 year of work experience. Should we decline the ITA and and resubmit a CEC new application after July 02, 2020 (after he has completed 1 full year of work)?

IRCC has acknowledged that there is a bug with their Express Entry profile system which calculates all dates as the “first” of the month. Meaning that if you enter in your work start date as April 13, 2019, the system counts your work experience from April 01, 2019. If you were to decline your ITA, your application will not be refused as your express entry profile will be put back into the pool. You can then amend your work experience dates and await for a new ITA in the next draw.
