Work Permit Expiration 90 Days TimePeriod Completion Study
-
My friend came to Canada to study Business Management at Sheridan College. He completed his studies on May 05, 2020. His official transcript was issued on May 28, 2020 and his convocation took place on June 12, 2020. My friend read on the IRCC website that a study permit expires 90 days after the study has been completed. He is confused as to which date he should count the 90 day period from? Can you please help us with this confusion?

As per IRCC, the 90 day period is counted from the day you completed your studies. This is when you officially receive a letter from the college/university that you have completed the program. In general, your study permit becomes invalid on the earliest of the following:
– Expiration of work permit
– 90 days after completion of studies
– Cancellation of work permit due to removal order
In your case, your 90 day period will be counted from your date of completion of studies (May 05, 2020).
